Cowichan Branch Report 2011

The Executive for 2011 was elected at the December 2010 General Meeting.
Two directors of BCRTA, Cameron Cascon and Carolyn Prellwitz, were asked to join the Executive.

There are four General Meetings this year on March 10, May 26, September 29, and November 24. At the March 10 meeting, Leslie Lundgren spoke about organizing house clutter and downsizing, then Sandi Riecken told us about the ‘Garden Pals’ program that involves children with seniors.

At the May 26 meeting President Doug told us of the BCRTA’s plans for the next while and Maureen Alexander gave us a very interesting presentation on historic Bamberton.

This year the Branch donated two $1200 bursaries to Cowichan District students who will be pursuing teaching careers. The Heritage Committee has enlarged their collection of historic materials and has planned visits to other museums in the area.

We are looking forward to TGIF Day, September 6 on Thetis Island. The September 29 Meeting will feature reports from the BCRTA General Meeting and the November 24 Annual General Meeting will elect a new Executive.
