Cranbrook Branch Report 2011

In September THWTB was very successful with 32 members attending. Unfortunately, only one of the six new retirees was able to join us and enjoy the delicious breakfast served by the staff at the Mission Hills Golf Course.

In February, the CRTA met at the Bavarian Chalet for a luncheon meeting. Many items were discussed including the Elk Valley Resolution which was supported in motion by our branch, the new Extended Health Plan, our recent raise and how it differs from the BCGEU raise, and the Golden Star Award presentation to the School Board by Keith Coates and Karen MacDonald.

After lunch Keith Coates presented a very informative talk “Doing it Your Way” dealing with wills, powers of attorney and representative agreements. This talk was very well received.

The AGM was held with a luncheon meeting at the Bavarian Chalet on May 25th.The President was delighted to announce that Steeples Elementary would be a recipient of the Golden Star on June 6th. Further discussions were held on topics stemming from our February meeting. Reports were given on our Zone meeting, the BCTF AGM, the Prellwitz comparison of Extended Health Plans, the Medical Services Plan Premium,and the BCRTA Commission evaluation. The election results are: President - Karen MacDonald; Vice President- Suzanne Pearce; Secretary – Lynne Williams: Treasurer – Don Holt; Social Concerns- Sue Pearce; Historian - Menadora Benedik and Sue Pearce; Phoning – Dagmar Allen; Sunshine- Marjorie Futcher and BCRTA AGM delegates – Karen MacDonald and Sue Pearce. Our Charity contributions will be made to the Salvation Army and the Children’s Library.
