President's Report--Mission RTA, June, 2011

The Mission RTA enjoyed their second year as a branch of the BCRTA.
Our membership is small with attendance varying from 8 to 15 members.
Those who participate enjoy the camaraderie and conversation.

Our activities and events are usually social in nature. We began the year with a "To Hell With the Bell" breakfast that was well attended. It also was an excellent opportunity to inform retired teachers of the existence of the MRTA.

Two other successful events were: A potluck lunch in October followed by a presentation by one of our members of her trip to China.
In December, a Christmas luncheon with a musical presentation, attracted not only our regular members, but other retired teachers who are not able to join us for our coffee and conversation on the third Tuesday of each month.

The Zone Meeting in Langley on April 14 was attended. The sharing of activities and information proved to be interesting and informative, making it a worthwhile event.

A tour of the Sikh Temple in April was interesting and educational. One of our members, along with the temple priest, graciously agreed to conduct the tour.

We concluded our year in June with coffee at the Blackberry Kitchen set in beautiful Heritage Park. This was a fitting place to meet on June
21-- a lovely setting on the first day of summer.

As president, I am looking forward to continuing efforts to build our membership, and to expand the activities in which we participate.
