Nicola Valley Branch Report 2011

Our branch was formed in June of 2010.  At this time Wendy Charney was elected President and Judy Little, Secretary-treasurer.

In September we held the “To Hell with the Bell” breakfast social and informal meeting.  There were 45 retired teaches at this occasion and we encouraged all to become members of our branch and surveyed what workshops they would like to see offered in town.  Wendy Charney and Judy Little attended the BCRTA AGM in Richmond, BC.

In October we set-up our bank account at the Credit Union.  Our start-up cheque from the BCRTA was $280.00.

November 18, COSCO offered a seminar on Osteoporosis.  This seminar examined the cause of the disease and the risk factors contributing to an individual’s susceptibility.  Some of the most recent treatments were discussed.

In April, Harry and Judy Little attended the BCRTA Thompson/Okanagan Zone Meeting in Kamloops. 

Our AGM luncheon was held on June 20 with 12 people attending.  Our branch has applied for a grant of $100 to use toward a new membership drive.  The first 10 people to join would get a $10 certificate from Starbucks.  We discussed which workshope we would like during the year.  Wendy will contact COSCO and set-up one for the fall and one for spring.  There was no interest in a Christmas luncheon.
