BCRTA Extended Health Benefits

(Plan 2 - Group # 98000)

This Extended Health Benefits plan is sponsored by the B.C. Retired Teachers' Association and underwritten by Pacific Blue Cross.

The basic elements of the plan are outlined below.

ELIGIBILITY

            1.    Participants must be eligible for and covered by the Medical Services Plan of B.C. (MSP) and the B.C. Hospital Programs and maintain their BCRTA membership in order to retain their EHB coverage.

            2.    Only those members who are not receiving a pension from the B.C. Teachers' Pension Plan may participate.

            3.    Current beneficiaries of B.C. Teacher Pension Plan recipients who lose their eligibility to participate in the regular EHB plan will be eligible to transfer immediately to the second plan.

                  
PREMIUMS

            Premiums will be :

                   Single                                          $91.26/month

                   Couples and families               $177.38/month

            Any future change in premiums will be based upon the actual cost of providing the benefits to this group of retirees.

 

PREMIUM PAYMENT

            Premiums will be paid monthly by automatic bank debit.

            Participants must complete the banking authorization form, which will allow PBC to deduct the premium on a monthly basis.  Please attach your blank cheque marked "VOID" to the application.

            Premiums may not be paid by personal cheque or cash. 

 

TERMINATION

            A member who enrols in the plan and subsequently ceases to be a member of the BCRTA will no longer be eligible for benefits under this plan, as of the date that BCRTA membership ended.

            Termination will be automatic should your bank funds not cover the required contribution unless substitute payment is made to PBC within fifteen working days of bank notification.

           
ENROLMENT

            BCRTA members who wish to participate in the plan must complete a BCRTA Plan 2 Application form and return it to the BCRTA office.

            If your BCRTA membership is not paid up or you have not yet joined the BCRTA, you must become a fully paid up member in the BCRTA before you can enrol in the EHB Plan 2.  Of course, you may do both at once. 

            Membership fees for the current year are $40.00. If you need a BCRTA membership application form, call the office at 871-2260 or toll free at 1-800-663-9163.

 

 

 

 

 

NOTICE

            Once you are enrolled in the EHB Plan, you are eligible for coverage under dental plan, further information should be obtained from Pacific Blue Cross.
